After Vermeer

One motif, returned to again and again: Vermeer's girl with the pearl earring.

Peter Wirth painted the series in 2005, from memory rather than in front of the painting — the pearl stays, the face recedes. He filed the group in his own hand-kept catalogue under a single name, and one work he titled himself: Griet, nach Vermeer.
