About Divine Editions
Divine Editions publishes archival prints from the estates of artists whose work was never widely offered for sale.
Most of what an artist makes never leaves the studio. It is photographed, filed, and kept — and when the artist dies it stays kept. We open those archives and print from them, one order at a time.
The first is Peter Wirth
A painter, printmaker and photographer who worked for four decades in Germany's Ruhr area and left just under 15,000 archived objects. His estate is held by his widow, Angelika Hannig-Wirth, who owns this shop. Her son Max Wirth supports her with the archive and the shop.
What we sell
Fine art reproductions. The originals are not for sale. Each print is made to order from the artist's own photographic archive, on Hahnemühle German Etching paper, in the United States.
How we sell it
As an open edition. We do not fix a quantity and we do not put a running count on prints. Each print carries its own registration number instead, recorded here.
That is a deliberate choice and it costs us something. Scarcity sells for more. We would rather the work be seen.
What we promise, whoever the artist is
One paper, chosen for the work rather than for the price. Pigment inks. A white border on every sheet, so nothing is cropped to fit a frame. A certificate with its own number. Free shipping within the United States. And plain language about what a print is and what it is not.
