The Dark Hull

A yacht with a dark hull and a white waterline runs from left to right across grey-green sea, her tall sails almost dissolved into the bright sky. A small pennant flies at the bow; a narrow bow wave foams along the hull.

Fine art reproduction after the original by Peter Wirth (1951–2018) — Acrylic on cotton canvas, original 39⅜ × 47¼ in (100 × 120 cm), catalogue W.2126.

Printed to order on Hahnemühle German Etching, 310 gsm, with pigment inks, in the United States. Every sheet carries a white border and the artwork sits inside it at its own proportions, so nothing is cropped to fit the paper.

Offered as a sheet in 8 × 10, 11 × 14, 12 × 16 and 16 × 20 inches, and framed in 11 × 14, 12 × 16 and 16 × 20 inches — slim black wood, acrylic glazing, no mat. Ships with a certificate naming the work, the original and your print, and carrying a registration number recorded in our archive.

Peter Wirth painted the sailing pictures as a group of their own: yachts under full sail, in haze, in spray and at night. In the catalogue of works they stand close together.

Made to order. Free shipping within the United States.

Open edition. These prints are not numbered and not capped. The sheet is not signed by hand; where the artist's name appears on it, it is a printed facsimile applied by the estate. The registration number on the certificate identifies your copy in our archive; it is not an edition number. This is a posthumous edition: the original work dates from the artist's lifetime; the print is made after his death in 2018.
