The Veiled Chairs · Six

Six of the veiled chairs from 1998–99, hung in two rows: always one chair, one cloth, a ground of two or three colour fields — and only the cloth changes. Above, the pale cloths: grey-green, almost colourless, sea green. Below, red, ultramarine and red again. Each row is also sold on its own, as Pale Cloths · Three and Red and Ultramarine · Three.

All six are portrait sheets in the same size. Hung as two rows of three they need about 28 × 22 inches at 8 × 10 in, or 37 × 30 inches at 11 × 14 in, with 2 inches between the sheets.

Printed to order on Hahnemühle German Etching, 310 gsm, with pigment inks, in the United States. Every sheet carries a white border and the artwork sits inside it at its own proportions, so nothing is cropped to fit the paper. Each sheet ships with its own certificate and its own registration number.

Open edition. These prints are not numbered and not capped. The sheets are not signed by hand; where the artist's name appears on them, it is a printed facsimile applied by the estate. This is a posthumous edition: the original works date from the artist's lifetime; the prints are made after his death in 2018.
