Red Cloth, Thrown Across

Red, thrown across the chair and falling to the left in one large triangle. Light passes through the cloth as through silk; below, the seat lies dark beside a field of cream.

Fine art reproduction after the original by Peter Wirth (1951–2018) — Acrylic on cotton canvas, original 47¼ × 39⅜ in (120 × 100 cm), catalogue W.877.

Printed to order on Hahnemühle German Etching, 310 gsm, with pigment inks, in the United States. Every sheet carries a white border and the artwork sits inside it at its own proportions, so nothing is cropped to fit the paper.

Offered as a sheet in 8 × 10, 11 × 14, 12 × 16, 16 × 20 and 18 × 24 inches, and framed in 11 × 14, 12 × 16 and 16 × 20 inches — slim black wood, acrylic glazing, no mat. Ships with a certificate naming the work, the original and your print, and carrying a registration number recorded in our archive.

Peter Wirth returned to this motif again and again between 1998 and 1999 — veiled chairs before a ground of a few fields of colour. In the catalogue of works they stand together as one group.

Made to order. Free shipping within the United States.

Open edition. These prints are not numbered and not capped. The sheet is not signed by hand; where the artist's name appears on it, it is a printed facsimile applied by the estate. The registration number on the certificate identifies your copy in our archive; it is not an edition number. This is a posthumous edition: the original work dates from the artist's lifetime; the print is made after his death in 2018.
